Luke's Testimony
I have had the privilege of being raised in a Christian home, where the Christian way of life and routine of Godly things have always surrounded me. I believe I came to know Jesus on Wednesday 18th July 1989 at the age of six. I remember being unable to sleep that night, and told my parents that I wanted to become a Christian; for I knew that some people are saved and some are not. That night I wished to be saved. Mum came upstairs and spoke with me, and asked me if I wanted to pray with her. At that point I kept repeating a phrase that has been so profound throughout my Christian life. I kept saying that I couldn't become a Christian, because the devil was trying to stop me. How true that statement is! But that night I remember mother's tears as she led me to Christ. The devil has no power over the working of God unto salvation.
In my teenage years I have great doubts about my salvation. I never doubted the existence of God, the scriptures or doctrines contained therein. I never doubted the miracle of Christ's birth, His life, His miracles, His death, His sacrifice, His resurrection, His return. I only ever doubted my own salvation. However, God has helped me to work out my "own salvation with fear and trembling" (Philippians 2:12). I know that all my righteousnesses' are as filthy rags, that there is nothing I can do to obtain salvation. Nothing in my hands I bring...simply to thy cross I cling. On a dying Christ I feed, He is meat and drink indeed. I thank God for saving me, and wish to be used by Him in the furtherance of His Kingdom and the spread of the Gospel. Amen.
